Dear all friends, Dreams see everyone, but there are very few such courageous peoples who fulfill their dreams Kalpana Chawla is such a shadow of courage and struggle who made childhood dreams of going to space came true. Today not only NASA and India but the whole world is proud on her because of her achievements.

KALPANA CHAWLA

Kalpana Chawla, the daughter of India and known as Astronaut, was born on 1st July 1961 in the Karnal District of Haryana. Her father name Mr. Banarsi Lal Chawla running a Tyre manufacturing business while her mother Ms. Sanyogita is a housewife. Kalpana Chawla completed her school education from Tagore school, in 1976 where she was a high performing student, then she moved to Chandigarh  for completing her Bachelor of Engineer degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College(PEC), In 1982 then she moved to USA to obtained a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University Of Texas at Arlington. Kalpana Chawla did PhD in Aerospace Engineering in 1988 from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Kalpana Chawla the youngest of four siblings was talented since childhood . Her interest in the Karnal flying club was increased, In childhood she had dreams of flying in airplanes after watching airplanes flying in close range. Kalpana Chawla decided in her childhood that she wanted to become an Aerospace Engineer although her father wanted to see her becoming a doctor or a teacher but in Kalpana Chalwa's imagination, there was only space.

It is notworthy that Kalpana Chawla had held a Certificated Flight Instructor rating for airplanes, gliders and Commercial Pilot licenses for single and multi-engine airplanes, sea planes and gliders).

SPACE SHUTTLE

after marrying with Jean-Pierre Harrison , Kalpana Chawla got American citizenship, she then began efforts to join NASA space team her efforts paid off. 

In 1995 she was included in a group of 15 astronauts who was going into space. Her first space mission began on 19 Nov 1997 after rigorous tests Kalpana Chawla being a part of the 6 member space travel team, here they traveled 254 orbits the earth, travelled 10.1 million miles in the mission and spent more than 372 hours in space with the success of this space mission of NASA, Kalpana Chawla is the first women astronaut of Indian origin and became second person of Indian origin to go into the space after this campaign Kalpana Chawla served in various positions in NASA and served the rest.

As a result in the year 2000 she was again selected as an astronaut however, this mission was delayed due to various technical reasons, but finally on 16 Jan 2003 Columbia mission STS 107 was launched. In this mission, she was accompanied by 6 astronauts, and Kalpana Chawla along with her team conducted 80 experiments in space, after spending 16 days in space the Columbia Space shuttle made an effort towards earth but  before lending on earth the control of that space shuttle was lost due to the extremely high speed on entering the earth's atmosphere, the temperature of the space shuttle reached till 165 degree Celsius as a result the Columbia space shuttle was broken into smaller pieces and all astronauts travelling  in this space shuttle were died just because of this.

This second and final journey of Kalpana Chawla proved to be . The way this incident accured at the time of return after discussions of all types of research and facts It was a traumatic event for the

whole world including NASA, but with this accident happened on 1 Feb 2003, Kalpana Chawla's statement came true. I am made for space every moment is spent for space and I will die for it. Kalpana Chawla the mission specialist of this mission and her fellow astronauts merged into the world of stars, but science has gained a lot from the research done by her and has also given a lesson for upcoming space mission after Kalpana Chawla's death. 

USA and India expressed their respect in many ways NASA has named its Super Computer Kalpana Chawla while the Prime Minister of India announced that the meteorological series of satellites, MetSat, was to be renamed "Kalpana". The first satellite of the series, "MetSat-1", launched by India on September 12, 2002 was renamed "Kalpana in her honour, 1 feb is remembered every year in India as a space heroes although Kalpana Chawla had acquired US Citizenship ,but Indian born Kalpana Chawla is proud of the whole India. she has inspired Indian women to go through something with their achievements the contribution she has made to the whole world on the strength of her dedication and talent will always be remembered.
